Fund raising for Alzheimers Society

What am I doing?

I’m donating two landscape photography workshops, up for auction via Facebook, or through the contact page right here on this website.

Why am I doing it?

I’m doing it to help my amazing friend Vicky reach her £3300 target in her quest to donate money towards a charity that is close to her heart.

Who’s Vicky and why is she doing it?

Vicky is one of my very best and closest friends.  An amazing person, who’s doing a sponsored skydive on the 28th May, as well as holding a charity raffle and print auction, and auctioning two of my workshops I am donating towards her cause.  She’s doing all this because she lost her nan to alzheimers and wants to give something to the charity to try and help others.  Her target of £3300 could pay for brain scanning equipment to detect changes in the brain caused by Alzheimer’s disease.

What’s more, Vicky is doing all this whilst battling her own illness in the form of M.E.  I know how debilitating this can be to Vix, so it makes what she’s doing that bit more incredible, in my eyes anyhow.  One amazing person, who I’m proud to call one of my very best friends.

How do I participate and what do I get for my money?

All we ask is for you to contact myself, either on Facebook or through the Contact page right here on my website.  Bidding closes at midnight on May 28th.  Currently, bids stand at £225 and £200.

The winning bids will then get paid into Vickys Just Giving account HERE and then we shall arrange the workshops to suit the winning bidders needs.  The highest bidder will get to chose between a workshop in and around Glencoe or the Lake District.  The remaining location will go to the second highest bidder.

So if you’re a beginner in landscape photography, and want to learn the basics of composition, how the light affects what we shoot, and how to fully control your camera, including the use of filters to balance exposures, or wether you’re a competent photographer who just wants someone to guide you around locations I know so well, please feel free to still get involved, have yourself a great day out with your camera, whilst knowing you’re helping out a charity that really needs it.

The workshop will take place on a day to suit you, and you will get transport included from a pre arranged location once we have worked out where you’ll be travelling from.  I know both the Lake District and Glen Coe like the back of my hand, having spent a lot of time in both locations over the past 5 years.  All locations will be suitable for anyone who can manage a short easy walk.

Where does my money go?

Every penny of your donation goes straight to Alzheimers Society.  This is a UK based charity.  Read all about the charity HERE.

Dementia can happen to anyone and there’s currently no cure. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK and the number is set to rise to 1 million by 2021.

Vicky really wants to help out, and if we can hit her target it would go a long way to helping.  I’m set to do all I can to help her reach the target, which is a big target, but being 38% of the way there whilst writing this, before raffle money, print and workshop auctions are added to the total, I firmly believe we can do this.

On behalf of Vicky and myself, thanks for reading this.  It’s not something either of us do regularly, or at all, and so far the response has been great.  Even if you don’t want to participate in the auctioning of the workshops, maybe you’d like to donate, even just a little amount goes a long way.

The Just Giving page to donate, even just £1, is right HERE.

Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
